This is part 2 of helping you to craft a perfect at home hockey set-up so if you haven't read part 1 yet be sure to go check it out. This article will get into more specific things you could look for when building a set-up whereas part 1 was all about the basic start you need to get going.

  1. Hockey Pass Rebounder

Looking for a way to practice one timers or receiving quick passes and shooting. Well that is an important part of the game but can be pretty difficult to do if you don't have a training partner. The Rapid Rebounder is a two sided hockey tool that allows you to train passing and receiving pucks even on a solo session.

This training tool is perfect for using on synthetic ice tiles or on a real hockey rink and its 24 inch length will make it easy to store and travel with as well as training your passing accuracy.

It comes with fixing screws and velcro stickers so you can choose to attach it to a surface or move it around.

  1. Stickhandling Ball

As much as training with a ball might not seem to make such a big difference when working on your hockey skills customers have reported it making a noticeable difference in developing their skills. The biggest benefit to this ball is that it is the same weight as a hockey puck so you can have the same feel as playing in game and train with precision.

I personally use a heavy stickhandling ball when working on off ice skills and it is much better then those light plastic ones that never seem to stay on the ground. It works best for me on synthetic ice tiles but would also work well on concrete.

  1. Training Cones

Four orange hockey training cones

Tired of big light cones that flip over every time they are touched? The Underpass X Training Cones are designed to be better and have additional benefits which I will explain. First of all, you can insert a puck in the bottom to provide extra weight and stability so the cones are less likely to flip. Another benefit is that you can press objects like sticks down into the top of the cones and create a new obstacle to stickhandle through.

They come in a set of four which is perfect to get you started and if you decided your looking to expand order another set and step up your game.

  1. Shot Radar

Speed radar beside a phone with tracking app

The shot radar is an awesome gadget for hockey players as well as many other sports in measuring speed of shots or throws. It is a great way to track progress and see how you are improving.

It couldn't be easier with the MySpeedz app supported on apple and android which will help to track your shot speed and even allows you to compete against friends. In my experience with shot radars you get what you pay for and none will be perfect but at this price point it will be pretty accurate.

Powered by rechargeable batteries and coming with a tripod it is easy to set up and get going. I find that when you can see visible improvement, it can help you to keep you motivated in training stay consistent.

  1. Roller Blades

I am choosing not to include a specific model or brand for roller blades because I highly recommend being able to try them in store and get a feel for them. Roller blades can definitely add another level to your off ice practice and add some skating practice to mix in with the stickhandling and shooting.

I use roller blades with a skate boot that lace up as opposed to the ones with straps but let me know what you guys think.

Thanks for reading this article and I wish you all luck with building your own hockey set-up. Definitely check out some of the products I recommend and let me know if you have any questions.
